I have always had a passion for growing things from children to my garden. As I began accumulating a rather impressive collection of houseplants (approaching 300 at the time this was written), I was moved by the variety and beauty of the leaves and blossoms they produced. These living things brought me daily joy and texture into my life. When I am not elbow deep in dirt gardening outside, I am watering, pruning, and tending to my collection inside. My photographic exploration of these plants began passively and as a desire to capture “that stunning leaf/bloom that won’t look this way forever”, but quickly bloomed into something much more. I don’t photograph the most perfect plants, just like humans, perfection is a subjective and unachievable goal. Instead, I show the beauty in each individual plant, as it is, in its perfectly imperfect form. Much like I capture my human boudoir nudes, against black with moody side lights, I capture the naked truth in my plants, their Botanic Boudoir.
